A Starbucks employee in Oregon is being praised on social media for his kind act toward an elderly customer.
Matthew Smith says he visits the same Starbucks in Forest Grove, Oregon, every morning, where he is greeted by a young man named Ben, WSBTV reports.
“He always has my drink ready for me when I reach the counter, knows nearly all of his customers by name, and actually makes you want to go by and see him if he’s working,” Smith wrote in a Facebook post that has now gone viral.
In the post, Smith attached a photo of the moment Ben went above and beyond to help an elderly customer who needed some assistance.
“There was a wind and rain storm outside, and he approached the worker he trusted the most and asked Ben for help,” Smith wrote. “He just needed his jacket zipped up and was having problems. Of course, Ben obliged without hesitation.”
Smith wrote that Ben had restored his faith in customer service, which he called a “lost art.” He added that he shared the photo in hopes that it reaches someone at the corporate office of Starbucks.
“If there is anyone who Starbucks needs to grab onto and put into management, it's this guy,” Smith added.
The post was shared more than 40,000 times since it was posted on Oct. 30. Several people commented on the post and sang the praises of the Starbucks employee.
One commenter attached the following photo and wrote:
“I went to the customer service desk and spoke with the manager. I asked if she had heard of the picture going around on FB regarding their Starbucks employee and she said no with a worried look on her face. I let her read the post and her face lit up. I told her I don't drink Starbucks and the ONLY reason I was here today was because of this young man. Well done, Ben. I will be filling out the online comment card on your behalf.”
