Police Claim Shoplifter Hid Steaks In His Colostomy Bag

David Samuel Hoyt was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly shoplifting ribeye steaks in his colostomy bag in Roebuck, South Carolina.

Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Food Lion where employees claimed that a white male shoplifted $75 worth of steaks and drove away. The employees wrote down the suspect's license plate number, which deputies traced to Hoyt.

Hoyt originally told deputies that he didn't steal the steaks, but later confessed verbally to placing the meat in his colostomy bag and leaving the store, notes The Smoking Gun.

According to a deputy's report, Angela Woody, Hoyt's girlfriend, "confirmed that Mr. Hoyt had taken meat from Food Lion by putting it in his colostomy bag."

Hoyt was charged with a shoplifting misdemeanor. He is currently locked up in the Spartanburg County Jail on a $2130 bond.

The New York Daily News notes that the condition of the steaks and how the meat was allegedly placed in the colostomy bag were not detailed in the arrest report.
