Although Pokemon Go was just released on July 7, it has already become a huge phenomenon as users "catch" Pokemon on their smartphones in many different places.

Pokemon Go has been linked to some unfortunate incidents, such as a recent armed robbery, according to NY Mag.

But it can also be a useful tool. One woman in New York reportedly discovered that her boyfriend Evan Scribner was cheating on her with an ex while they were both playing the game, according to The New York Post.

This was possible because of the game's geolocation services which record where any user has found or captured a Pokemon. This means that when Scribner was logged into the game and "caught" a Pokemon while at his ex-girlfriend's place in Bushwick, New York, his current girlfriend - also logged into the game - was able to see his location just by looking at his activity on the game.

"She saw that I had caught a Pokémon while at my ex’s house," Scribner told The Post.

"She found out last night at my house and hasn’t contacted me since then," he added.

However, some other users have reportedly had better experiences with the game.

“Pokemon Go is great for my mental health," one Twitter user wrote on July 11. "I also got laid."

“Pokemon go got me laid,” another user wrote.
