A photo of a 6-year-old boy from Northern Ireland apologizing to his girlfriend with flowers has captured hearts worldwide.

The boy's mother, Zowiie Williams, was the driving force behind Callum's apology to his little love, Billy-Rea, reports Daily Mail.

Callum got upset with Billy-Rea because she refused to let him join a girls-only game of duck duck goose. Callum's friend told him he should break up with her, so the little boy did.

When Zowiie learned about this, she was adamant that Callum apologize with flowers so he would learn respect.

"When your son hurts a girl's feelings, it's our job as parents to make him understand how saying things out of anger and upset can make others feel," Zowie explained on Facebook while uploading a picture of her son and the flowers.

"Today he is marching into school with flowers and an apology because I feel that we need to teach boys the importance of how they should react to certain situations," she added. "Callum now understands that what other people think or say should not sway him into acting like he doesn't care about other people's feelings. Especially a girl!!"

"I also explained that buying flowers won’t automatically fix the problem and made sure that he understood he couldn’t be mean and expect anything materialistic to fix what he says, and that it is never okay to be mean to anyone especially a girl," she later continued.

That photo and post tugged on the heartstrings of many all over the world. It has since been liked over 20,000 times in just over a week.

Zowiie says she is touched by the positive response and is incredibly proud of her son for doing the right thing.

"His head was high and he apologized in front of his peers and handed over the flowers," she said. "It was a very proud moment for me as his mother. It was a learning step. One I hope he will carry with him always."

Hundreds praised the mother's parenting skills.

"This is a perfect example of how kids should be brought up, to respect people & their feelings..well done zowiie & callum xx," said one Facebook user.

"This is beautiful," added another. "I love that you're not the type of parent who thinks their child is always a little angel and made him aware when he has done something wrong."

"Well done, if only more parents would teach their children this kind of behaviour," chimed in a third.
