A photo of Kentucky and Ohio state troopers went viral after a 5-year-old decided to buy them ice cream cones with her allowance.
Sarah Yockey and her daughter, Isabella Gregory, were at a McDonald’s near the Radcliffe Police Department in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, when several state troopers walked into the restaurant, WDRB reported.
The officers had just come from the funeral of Kentucky State Police Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder. When Isabella saw them, she asked her mom if she could treat the troopers to ice cream.
“She used her allowance she earned this past week to put smiles on their faces,” Yockey told WDRB. “She said, ‘Their friend died, and it’s not fair because he has a family too.’”

According to trooper Eric Homan, he and his friends hadn’t eaten all day and had stopped at the McDonald’s to decompress and grab a bite to eat.
“We were finishing up eating and Isabella comes out of no where and she’s holding a tray of ice cream sundaes,” Homan said. “She stepped right in between us all without fear and was so proud to thank us for protecting her and her family.”
Homan added that after a long, emotionally draining day Isabella’s gift lifted their spirits.
The group then took a picture together, which was later shared on social media and went viral.
