A photo capturing an adorable stand-off between a Kentucky police officer and a toddler on Feb. 15 gained national attention.
The 3-year-old girl attacked the police officer with a snowball, the Georgetown Police Department explained on its Facebook page.
"The officer attempted to deescalate the situation, but to no avail. This little snow angel, like many snow angels her age, was very determined. Subsequently, in true 3 year old fashion, she continued onward with her tiny snowball in hand and ultimately won the snowball fight,” the department wrote.
Commentators were delighted by the post, with thousands “liking” the photo and sharing it.
“Hope you didn't get in trouble with the chief for not calling for backup when you were challenged by this dangerous snowball expert!! LOL. This is as cute as it could be. I love it!!!” joked Penny Marsh.
Others took on a more serious tone as they praised the officer.
“Everyone is always ready to complain about the police officers -- but this shows that they are just normal people with big hearts and they take the time to have a snowball fight with a precious little girl,” wrote Paula Riggs-jochim. “Great job and thank you to all the police officers.”
This is not the first time a child has gotten in “trouble” with police.
In April 2015, a Kentucky police officer pulled over a 2-year-old boy driving his toy car, reports Yahoo News.
The mother, Ashley Crawford, said she asked the police officer to do it.
“How cute would it be if I got a picture of Jaxon [her child] pulled over?" Crawford said she thought. “I waited for [the police officer] to finish up with his incident report and asked him if he wouldn’t mind turning the lights on and pulling Jaxon over.”
Officer Bill Mayo said he loved putting a smile on the child’s face and would do it again.
"I probably got just as much out of the interaction as Jaxon did. It made my day complete. I’m just a big kid as it is. In a child’s world, make believe and pretend is what it’s all about. I would do it a thousand times over,” he said.
