A mother who posted a seemingly innocent photo of her 2-year-old daughter, Charlotte, pretending to breast-feed is now facing massive backlash from online users.

The original image shows a young girl sitting in a shopping cart at a store, lifting up her shirt while she holds a doll near her chest, as if to breast-feed it. The photo immediately drew outrage from those who found it to be inappropriate and unsettling.

"You know you're a breastfeeding mother when you look over in the middle of the store to your toddler saying, 'Baby cry, baby just wants eat…,'" the woman wrote in the caption.

The woman shared the viral image on the Facebook page, Breastfeeding Mama Talk, and talked about the scolding she faced, according to Daily Mail.

“The breastfeeding shaming starts before they even start really breastfeeding!” she declares.

She warns readers ahead of time that she is going on a “small rant because I wasn’t sure where else would understand the mix of emotions I have.”

The mother goes on to say:

I am absolutely blown away. I posted this picture of my daughter and woke up to messages asking if this was about me. I'm not bashing for how anyone else parents and maybe it is the wording that gets to me, the parts saying "it's the nastiest s--- of their life" and "I need punched in the damn face" but I am shocked.

"What I first thought to myself was did she breastfeed?! I still am breastfeeding Charlotte (2) and I formula fed my son, Bentley (5) and I am open to both, both are equally wonderful. I would LOVE to know how it is "the nastiest s--- of her life" ... Breastfeeding is something that is natural and IS normal. A baby putting a bottle to its dolls mouth, they are feeding their baby doll, correct? There's no difference.

I do not feel the need to correct Charlotte because breastfeeding is wrong? She said her baby wanted to eat, so she fed her. Charlotte says she wants to eat, in public or not, I nurse. Charlotte also pretends to do her makeup, my son pretends to work on his vehicles and fix things from watching his father. Isn't that how it is? Your child mimicking NORMAL daily behavior?

Charlotte has never had a bottle, I was/am lucky enough to be able to have breastfed these last two years strictly from breast. I was just so taken back. I then questioned am I wrong? How can I or why should I tell her this is wrong when it is what she knows?

How many other children "feed" their baby dolls by breastfeeding?!
