Mother Horrified To Discover Photo Of Her Breastfeeding In Restaurant Shared On Facebook To Shame Her (Photos)

A mother in Indiana was outraged when she discovered that a photo of her breastfeeding her son at a T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant was shared on Facebook.

Conner Kendall, a mother from Terre Haute, Indiana, said she discovered the photo on Facebook after an unidentified male customer uploaded it to social media. The man reportedly posted it in an effort to ask followers whether or not the practice of breastfeeding in public was appropriate.

I went [sic] to know if this is appropriate or inappropriate as I'm trying to eat my Fridays, there are little kids around,” the man wrote. “I understand feeding in public but could you at least cover your boob up?"

Kendall responded to the photo with a lengthy Facebook post of her own.

“He snapped the photo and then put it up on social media (Facebook and Instagram), many of the comments that followed were nothing less than harassing and shameful to, not only me, but every past, present, and future nursing mother,” she wrote.

“I was really very hurt by this act, because I was in no way bothering him, so what gave him the right to shame me?" she added.

According to Kendall, the man sent her a “very short” and “very insincere” apology in a private message. He acknowledged that the post was an “impulsive thing to do” and that he was “trying to educate himself” by posting it.

“If it's so offensive why is he showing everybody else,” she said. “It would have been much less of a deal if he didn't take the photo. I would have posed for a picture of me nursing if he'd asked.”
