A woman with lupus was overcome with emotion when her girlfriend presented her with the news that they were a blood match, and that she would be donating her kidney to her (below).
In the video of the heartwarming moment, Alana Duran is opening a box of gifts from her girlfriend, Lori Onterlicchio. The two met on dating app Tinder and began seeing one another soon after.
“My girlfriend Alana Duran has Lupus and kidney failure,” Interlicchio wrote in the video description.
“She has been on the transplant list for four years. I decided to get some tests done, and today I surprised her with a box of goodies and some news.”
After going through several gifts, including candy and gel pens, Duran makes it to the bottom of the box and begins to read from cards her girlfriend printed.
“Tattoos are cool but I’d rather get matching scars,” one of the cards read, along with the news that the two were blood matches and Duran would finally be able to come off dialysis.
Duran quickly realizes the gift she’s been given and breaks down in tears.
“Who knew that when we both swiped right on Tinder that day, that we would be more than just girlfriends but that she would be my kidney donor!” Duran wrote in a Facebook post.
“It's so funny how things work out. Both of us going into this relationship not expecting anything out of the ordinary. It's just so amazing to me that she was willing to get tested and now she's super excited to donate one of her kidneys to me. Lori, I love you so much and I'm so excited that we get to do this together. You're the absolute best."
