A Fort Benning soldier went out of his way to help hungry children in need when he bought them a meal at an Alabama Taco Bell restaurant (video below).

In a video of the incident, taken by restaurant patron Jason Gibson, Lt. Col. Robert Risdon can be seen at a Taco Bell in Greenville, Alabama, while on his way back to Columbus, Georgia.

Risdon buys meals for two boys, 9 and 12 years old, who were trying to sell homemade desserts to make money.

“They were in the store trying to continue to sell. I noticed they had just gotten out of the rain, they were both soaking wet,” Risdon told WTVM. Neither Risdon or Gibson had any cash to give the boys, so Risdon decided to buy them a meal instead.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

Gibson said the two boys were thankful for the soldier and grateful for his act of kindness.

"I heard the little one say 'I want to be just like you when I grow up' and saluted him,” Gibson wrote in a Facebook post.

Risdon said he was touched by the boys’ politeness and appreciation for what he did for a living.

“I thought it was amazing. A 9-year-old boy is coming up to me and saying you protect us. You take care of us ... They have inspired me as much as I have made them feel good by filling their bellies a little bit,” he said.

Gibson’s video garnered more than 3,000 shares in two days.
