A Russian man may have taken the proverb “be whoever you want to be” a little too far when he decided to realize his ultimate dream of becoming a platypus.

Jenya Bolotov, 26, knew from a very young age that he was different from his peers. The aspiring designer wanted to change his physical appearance on the outside to match his inside.

“Externally, I am now a platypus. Inside though, I am more like a bird,” says Bolotov.

“They’re my spirit animal and they come to me in my dreams. I love platypus – the way they look and even the word ‘platypus’ itself. I like the way my stretched face and lips now look like a platypus bill.”

According to Daily Mail, Bolotov spent seven years altering his appearance to look like the duck-billed, egg-laying mammal. He had eight parts of his face stretched – his ear lobes, nostrils, septum, and lips are extended by over nine-and-a-half inches.

Bolotov is also the first and only person in the world to have the very top bridge of his nose – the “surna” – stretched. .

“All of the modifications I have added to my body make me feel whole. This is what I am now. It is what I have always wanted to be,” he says.

He says that he loves his new “bill” and not much has changed since his transition. Bolotov can perform normal, routine activities like eating and talking without challenges, according to News Foxes.

He admits, however, “I do attract a lot of negative attention when I walk down the street and sometimes people make mean comments. I’m used to it now though and I just try to ignore them.”

Though the human-platypus does not currently have a girlfriend, Bolotov is hopeful that he will find a mate who will accept him for who he is – platypus bill and all.
