Photographers captured the Obama family vacation to Bali, Indonesia, where they were pictured sightseeing, whitewater rafting and enjoying a summer vacation.

Former President Barack Obama and his family spent a few days traveling through the Bali Province in Indonesia, where they notably stopped at the Hindu Balinese water temple to visit and explore, reports the Daily Mail.

Former first daughters Malia and Sasha and former first lady Michelle wore sarongs over their clothes while visiting the temple, as is tradition when touring a holy place. The temple is known for it's "holy water," which locals use for ritual purification.

The family also took in the sights of the Ayung River as they ripped through it in kayaks. The Obamas seemed challenged but enjoying the whitewater rafting, as they were pictured both wet and smiling. Sasha recently celebrated her 16th birthday, while Malia is spending time with her family before her freshman year begins at Harvard University in the fall.

Barack's mother, Ann Dunham, spent several years in Indonesia conducting anthropological research in the 1960s, according to the Independent. Barack spent several years of his childhood in the country.

Time reported that Barack is scheduled to speak in front of the Indonesian Diaspora Congress July 1 during his time in the country.

Not everyone is pleased with the Obamas' vacations. Fox News reported that a Democratic strategist from the office of former President Jimmy Carter thought the lavish trips were too much from a former president so soon after leaving office.

"I think the Bernie Sanders wing of the party, when they see President Obama, whom they instinctively want to defend being the corporatist president, I think it makes the base uneasy," said former Carter adviser Pat Caddell.

Other left-wing activists were reported to be unsettled by what appeared to be a distancing from the Democratic Party by Obama.

"Obama is not as wealthy or as conservative as Trump, George W. Bush, or George H.W. Bush, but he enjoys what used to be called ‘the lifestyle of the rich and famous,’” said Dr. David Michael Smith of the Houston Socialist Movement. "As president, he disappointed millions of supporters who hoped he would be a strong advocate for working-class people."

One of Barack's first actions after leaving the White House was to sponsor a job-training program on Chicago's South Side, as well as donating $2 million to help Chicago teens find apprenticeships and summer jobs.
