A viral video revealed that, apparently, we have been slicing and dicing apples completely wrong all these years.
People usually cut apples into quarters and then slice them hollowing out the core, notes Enjoy Easy Meals.
But Grant Thompson, also known as “The King of Random” on YouTube, demonstrates in a life hack video (below) how to chop up an apple five different ways, saving as much time as possible and keeping them from turning brown.
For the first hack, simply turn your apple upside down. Since the tops have a wider surface area than the bottoms of the fruit, they will be more stable when you slice them. This means less chances of cutting yourself.
Next, Thompson shows us how to cut the apple in a tic-tac-toe pattern, which removes the core automatically and slices are evenly cut.
You can also use a rubber band to put the apple back together and keep it fresh longer.
