Mother Brags About Daughters Before Shooting Them Dead

| by Jonathan Constante

The Texas mother who reportedly shot and killed her two daughters had praised them in a Facebook post before the shooting.

Christy Sheats fatally shot her own two daughters with a .38-caliber handgun on June 24 after a family argument, the Daily Mirror reported. She had shot the girls in front of her husband, Jason Sheats, and was later shot dead by police.

The victims were identified as 22-year-old Taylor Sheats and 17-year-old Madison Sheats. The family was reportedly celebrating Jason’s 45th birthday, and Taylor was set to get married three days later.

Before the shooting, Christy reportedly bragged about her two daughters in a Facebook post.

"Happy Daughter's Day to my two amazing, sweet, kind, beautiful, intelligent girls,” she wrote in a Sept. 15, 2015, post, according to the Daily Mirror. "I love and treasure you both more than you could ever possibly know.”

During a news conference, Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls said Christy wanted to make her husband "suffer."

" ... Christy had ample time to shoot and kill Mr. Sheats in the home but she chose not to," Nehls explained, according to The Washington Post. "Mr. Sheats stated that Christy knew how much he loved Taylor and Madison, and how much they loved him.

" ... Mr. Sheats will have to live the rest of his life with this horrible memory."

Christy was also rumored to be angered by Taylor’s upcoming wedding, but the reason for the family dispute is currently unconfirmed.

"According to Mr. Sheats, she wanted to blame him for what had taken place," Nehls added, the Daily Mirror noted.

"He did state that she accomplished what she set out to do and that is to make him suffer."

Jason told investigators that his wife battled depression and anxiety and had attempted suicide three times, according to The Washington Post. She was treated and evaluated at different private mental health institutions.

Jason added that his wife was taking “numerous” prescription medications and was also seeing a therapist..
