Rapper Kanye West caused quite a lot of buzz on social media after he asked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for money via Twitter. He has since explained his tweets.

“I just feel rich people are always too cool to ask for help trying to impress each other at dinner parties,” Kanye tweeted. “I want to help the world and I need help to do it. I am an artist and I care about humanity.”

Kanye wrote that while he is personally rich, he needs access to money to bring “beautiful ideas” to the world.

“If I spent my money on my ideas I could not afford to take care of my family. I am in a place that so many artist end up,” Kanye wrote. “Also for anyone that has money they know the first rule is to use other people’s money.”

Kanye continued tweeting on Feb. 16 following the Grammy awards. He complained that people have tried using his own debt against him. He encouraged others never to let go of their dreams, despite crippling debt.

IJ Review pointed out that, for the record, Kanye is worth $145 million.
