Fans of the TLC reality TV show "Counting On" may have been shocked during the Aug. 30 broadcast when Jinger Duggar said she and her boyfriend Jeremy Vuolo don't need a list of rules during their courtship (video below).
Joseph Duggar, Jinger's brother, explained the family's courtship rules: "For us Duggars, we kind of set up some courtship rules as a whole. You can do side hugs, no frontal hugs, no holding hands, no kissing."
However, Jinger said: "I think it's different for each person. It's not a cookie cutter. And so just praying about those things and not necessarily you don't have it all listed like as a set of rules, but just a general idea in letting people around you know."
In an earlier part of the show, Jinger announced the courtship to her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who have not appeared on the new series much, possibly because of brother Josh Duggar's sex scandals.

Jessa Duggar Seewald, Jinger's sister, and Jessa's husband, Ben Seewald, were also present for the big news.
During the happy gathering, Jinger gave some of her ice cream to Vuolo, which caused Jessa to later joke: "Well, she's gotta watch her little waistline, you know, gotta fit into that dress."
The joke went over Ben's head, and he said, "What dress?"
Jessa then mouthed: "The wedding dress."

During another part of the episode, Ben struggled to open their toddler-proofed front door when a friend came over.
"As we are praying and working towards a future adoption of our own, it's great to have other families around that have walked this road and can give us good advice," Jessa, who is pregnant with her second child, told the audience.
The friend asked the Seewalds how their adoption plans were going.
"At this point, we're planning for a domestic adoption, but I don't think we really have a preference either way for a boy or girl," Jessa explained to the camera.
"Yeah, I would like to remain flexible, too," Ben added, after Jessa spoke for both of them.
