A New York father wrote a note to his daughter's school informing them that they were late because they attended a Bruce Springsteen concert the night before.

Patrick Pipino took his family to a Bruce Springsteen concert at Albany's Times Union Center on Feb. 8, ABC News reported. He said his daughters, 12-year-old Isabelle and 7-year-old Sarah, were huge fans.

“They both love Bruce Springsteen, and have ever since the older one was only 4 years old,” Pipino told ABC News. “Isabelle would be singing from the back seat and if I had something else on, she would say, ‘Dad, can we listen to Springsteen?’ Sometimes she would even say, ‘Can we listen to old Springsteen?’”

The concert went on for three-and-a-half hours. Springsteen performed the entirety of his 1980 double album "The River," according to local newspaper Albany Times Union.

But the school night outing didn’t come without its consequences. The girls were late to school the following morning, prompting Pipino to write a very honest note to school officials.

“This may not seem like a good excuse, but have you ever wondered how many kids would be late -- or miss school outright -- if God were to suddenly appear?” Pipino wrote. “It’s something like that.”

Pipino posted a picture of the note on his Facebook page and it quickly went viral. While most social media users applauded the note, Pipino was worried about how his wife would respond.

“My wife is a schoolteacher in the district,” Pipino explained. “She was mortified by not knowing what her betrothed did.”
