The owner of an Italian restaurant in Rome instituted a controversial ban that has angered many parents of small children.
Marco Magliozzi, the owner of La Fraschetta del Pesce restaurant in Rome's downtown area, has decided to ban children younger than 5 years old from his establishment because they are "little uncontrollable terrors," the Telegraph reports.
The family-owned restaurant, which serves fresh fish caught by the owner's son, now has a sign in the window warning customers with young children that they will not be served.
"Due to some unpleasant incidents caused by a lack of manners, children under 5 are not allowed in this restaurant," the sign reads, according to the Telegraph.

The ban has drawn a storm of controversy on the Internet. One frustrated customer who was turned away in November 2015 because of his 2-month-old baby posted an angry review and one-star rating on TripAdvisor.
"We were left speechless, without words," wrote the man, who is identified only as Felix. "It is unbelievable and not even legal."
Angry local residents have also posted pictures of the sign and criticized the ban on Facebook.
Other Internet commenters are more supportive of Magliozzi's decision.

"Honestly i don't blame them at all, if they want to ban small children knowing that might dissuade some people from coming then they can," one Reddit user posted in a thread discussing the ban. "I've seen a lot of well behaved children at restaurants but i've also seen parents let their kids do whatever they want and it's disrespectful to all of the other customers."
"Lots of places have age restrictions, I've even heard of bars where the minimum age is like 40," another Reddit user wrote.
Under Italian law, food establishments cannot deny service to anyone without good reason. Local police visited the restaurant on Jan. 19 to investigate the sign; however, it's unclear if any action was taken as a result of the visit.
Magliozzi said he made the decision partly due to the many complaints he has received about some of his younger patrons.
"They run slalom among the tables," he told La Repubblica, according to the Telegraph. "They throw olive oil on the floor, they upturn the water, they send the salt seller flying across the room, they try to dismantle the furniture, they shout, they cry and above all, they hate fish."
