Hospital Fires Employee After Rant Against Black People

The Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia terminated Diane Amoratis in mid-July for a Facebook posting that she reportedly made disparaging black people.

Amoratis' posting was in response to an anti-police brutality demonstration by African-Americans, notes WCAU.

Amoratis reportedly wrote that she was "sick and tired of all this bulls--- with the black people."

She also praised the police: "Especially the officer who stood there while that fat, braided hair, piece of s--- trouble maker ranted so despicably in your face. You sir, you deserve a medal for letting her continue to make an ass of herself and showing what a low life she really is, and you were strong."

Amoratis went on to rant about black-on-black crime and boasted of her white skin color: "Blacks kill each other every day, all day long, and it's ok with them. Why not protest when Jamal kills Kalif???? Well, I AM WHITE AND PROUD TO BE WHITE!! WHITE LIVES MATTER!!!! POLICE OFFICERS LIVES MATTER!!!"

She also advised the protesters: "Keep your circus in your own neighborhood!!! Get a life, a honest job, and RAISE YOUR KIDS TO BE PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS!!!!"

Amoratis later concluded: "I am sick and tired of all this bulls--- with the black people!! If you don't like my post, then delete me as your friend."

After her anti-black posting went viral on Facebook, Amoratis was identified by users as a nurse at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, but the hospital denied she was employed there as a nurse.

The hospital's president and CEO Stephen Klasko and Chief Human Resources Officer Jeffrey Stevens posted a message on Facebook on July 12 that read:

It has come to our attention that a Jefferson employee posted inappropriate and inflammatory comments on social media about events regarding the recent shootings that have occurred in our country and the subsequent protests. Hate speech of any kind is unacceptable at Jefferson and is not consistent with our values, policies and the culture of inclusiveness, dignity and respect we continue to build here ... An employee’s decision to post inflammatory comments on social media is an unfortunate choice and one that is not tolerated at Jefferson.

Stevens said on Facebook on July 13: "I can report that we followed our established policies and procedures to address with dispatch the incident referred to yesterday. That individual is no longer at Jefferson."

The hospital did not name the employee in either of its posts.

Amoratis has reportedly deleted her Facebook page, or Facebook deleted it, and has not returned a call from local news station WCAU.
