A super political action committed that supports Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has pledged more than $1 million to fight back against criticisms of her made by users on various social media channels.

The Correct The Record “Barrier Breakers” 2016 digital task force was created to “help Clinton supporters push back on online harassment and thank superdelagates,” according to a release posted to its website.

“Anonymous online attacks, from both sides of the political spectrum, have sought to spread lies and misleading narratives about Secretary Hillary Clinton,” the release states.

The super PAC alleges that Clinton’s female supporters have been “subject to intense cyber-bullying and sexist attacks from swarms of anonymous attackers.”

Superdelegates are also named as those who have been subject to “vicious attacks” for supporting Clinton.

Barrier Breakers “will serve as a resource for supporters looking for positive content and push-back to share with their online progressive communities, as well as thanking prominent supporters and committed superdelegates on social media,” including Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Instagram.

It also plans to reach out to supporters of fellow Democratic nominee Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont in an attempt to sway their support towards Clinton.

The task force claims to have already addressed as many as 5,000 individuals who “have personally attacked Secretary Clinton on Twitter.”

They’ve also already approached pro-Sanders supporters on Reddit.

“This explains why my inbox turned to cancer on Tuesday,” Reddit user OKarizee wrote in response to the Barrier Breakers announcement. “Been a member of reddit for almost 4 years and never experienced anything like it. In fact, in all my years on the internet I've never experienced anything like it.”

OKarizee later told commenters that the “bombardment” of the account “went on for hours.”

Other users told OKarizee that they have noticed their posts receiving multiple downvotes within minutes of being shared.

“Every recent post of mine to here went from +1 to 0 karma almost instantaneously,” user banjosbadfurday commented in the Politics subreddit.

Barrier Breakers says they will respond “quickly and forcefully to negative attacks and false narratives” throughout the primary season and general election -- which may depend on whether Clinton is chosen as the party’s presidential nominee.
