An uplifting picture (below) of an elderly man showing a young stranger how to tie his tie at an Atlanta train station has gone viral.
The elderly man’s wife saw the young man sitting on a bench wearing dress pants and a collared shirt, trying to tie his tie, reports the Daily Mail.
She encouraged her husband to “come over here” and help him.
It was uploaded by Redd Desmond Thomas, from Georgia, who noticed the compassionate act at Atlanta’s Lindbergh Center and had to snap a picture.
“The young guy sitting down was struggling with his tie,” he said in the post. “The woman in the red coat noticed, and asked 'Do you know how to tie it properly?' The young man replied with 'No ma’am.'”
“She taps her husband and says “Come here and teach this young man how to tie his tie,” Thomas explained. "The older gentleman moved without hesitation and [gave] him a step-by-step tutorial; then afterward the older gentleman watched the young gentleman repeat the steps [to] show him that he had it.”
Thomas added, “I love this!”
The Facebook photo had more than 590,000 likes and was shared more than 167,000 times within two days.
“I absolutely love this! It’s the small things that make the biggest impact. Finally, some positivity!” said one Facebook comment, reports Fox 8.
“Imagine how many lives we can touch and differences we all could make if we just sacrificed a few minutes of our time for someone in need. It goes beyond putting up a country’s flag and mourning the dead … it starts in our very own communities,” said another.
