An 81-year-old Florida man made a recovery after being attacked by ants, thanks to a group of firemen.

Jack Hurdt stirred up a nest of the biting insects while he was pressure washing his front walkway, the New York Daily News reports.

He tried to spray the little pests, which started biting him, and he collapsed on the front doorstep where his wife found him unconscious.

“I went about 15 feet, pushed the doorbell — next thing I knew, I was on the ground,” he told WESH Orlando. “I was out.”

His wife, Marjorie, immediately called for help.

“I couldn’t get nothing out of him,” she told the TV station. “Scared me to death.”

A group of medics from Brevard County Fire Rescue came to Jack’s rescue, and after they rushed him to hospital, they came back and finished pressure washing the walkway.

The elderly man and his wife came home, and were surprised to find a note, saying, “Dear Mr. Hurdt and family, we finished pressure washing your front walk.”

A security camera confirmed the Station 44 crew’s good deed.

“About 10 minutes in, we had to leave to go to another 911 emergency, so we left, ran that call, came back and finished the job,” Lt. Richard Woodling of Brevard County Fire Rescue told WESH.

Woodling claimed he and his crew were just doing their jobs.

“The citizens are our customers,” he said. “If my father or grandfather needed something, I would expect the fire department to do the same thing.”
