A father handed down a significant lesson on punishment for unruly kids, and all it took was a camera and a set of clippers to get viewers’ attention.

“I’m here to teach my son a lesson,” the father says at the beginning of the video, posted below. “I don’t teach my son to mess up in school. I don’t teach him to do what he wants to do. I don’t teach him to be a fool. But I give my son everything, and when it’s time to do the right thing I expect for my son to not forget what he has learned.”

The father goes on to bring up the growing trend of videos in which parents give their children embarrassing haircuts as a form of punishment and a way to teach them a lesson about doing the right thing.

“Today, I think I’m going to follow suit,” he says. As he moves a set of clippers close to his son’s head, the father suddenly stops and tells the boy to stand up and give him a hug.

“The devil is a lie,” he exclaims.

“There’s no way in the world I would ever embarrass my son like that," he adds. "It doesn’t take all of that. Good parenting starts before he even gets to the point of being out of control.

"Good parenting is getting up in the middle of the night and praying for your child," he continues. "Good parenting is letting your child know that you love them regardless of what they are and who they are, and showing them the way by example.”

The father then points out that, contrary to other videos posted by parents, he never uses profanity or shames his son for any wrongdoing.

“What’s important is that you learn to know Jesus Christ," he says. "And when you learn to know Jesus Christ, he will show you how to handle your kids.”

Reaction to the video was mostly positive, with many praising the father for the message his conveyed.

I agree. Embarrassing your kid on social media is unnecessary & makes the parent look bad on their part,” one viewer wrote on World Star Hip Hop.

“The people giving their children these haircuts make it more about them than actually trying to correct their children's mistake,” another wrote.
