A Phoenix, Arizona, mother was given the opportunity to hear the heartbeat of her deceased son once more in the body of a 4-year-old girl.

In 2013, Heather Clark faced the unimaginable when her 7-month-old son, Lukas, died after being abused by a babysitter’s boyfriend. Clark donated her son’s organs, which saved the lives of three children — including now 4-year-old Jordan Drake, who spent most of her life in the hospital due to a congenital heart defect.

In late 2015, Clark got in touch with Drake’s family and began talking about eventually meeting face-to-face. On January 22, she revealed that she would be meeting Drake for the first time ever.

“One week from today I will be listening to Lukas' heartbeat once again,” Clark wrote on a Facebook page dedicated to her son.

“I will be holding Jordan in my arms showering her with love and kisses!”

One week later, the emotional meeting took place.

“I'm not going to say anything. I'm just going to hug her. I think I have run out of words at this point. Hugging... I don't have anything else to say,” Drake’s mother, Esther Gonzalez, said before the meeting took place.

“He was just on the move, rolling, scooting, however he could get there, and that's Jordan, just always going," Clark said.

Clark was gifted a teddy bear that included an audio recording of her son’s heart, so that she could always hear it beating.

“The only thing I can think of is, I can't save my own son so why not save someone else’s child because I can't do anything with him,” she said of her decision to donate his organs.

The two mothers said they plan to arrange meetings on a regular basis and be a part of each other’s lives.
