On March 21, 32-year-old comedian Quincy Jones appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" where the host announced that HBO was going to air his stand-up comedy special, which has been his dying wish.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Jones has Stage 4 mesothelioma cancer and was told in July 2015 that he only had one year to live.

“Here’s the thing that you mentioned last time, that you want to do a comedy special, that’s really important for you to do a comedy special,” DeGeneres told Jones.

“So, what you don’t know, is we called the head of HBO, and your people didn’t even tell you this, but HBO is going to air your special,” she added.

Jones broke into applause and so did the audience, and then Jones thanked the talk show host.

Jones told DeGeneres that he was performing at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles on April 4, but she didn't know the venue.

"You wouldn't know, but in the city," Jones joked. "It's in the city, it's in the city. You're far removed from the city."

DeGeneres also told Jones that Shutterfly is donating $15,000 to help produce his special, and handed him an oversized check that he held up for display. Additionally, Jones' Kickstarter page has raised $50,273 to help produce the special.

Now, Jones is selling tickets for his special via his Kickstarter page which states:

"Tickets are officially available for the Quincy Jones Stand-Up Special!"

"Because of you all, our dream has been realized!"

"Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for supporting and loving Quincy Jones. We are speechless and humbled by the incredible outpour of support. It far surpassed our wildest dreams!"

TheWrap reports that Jones is originally from Seattle, and moved to Los Angeles with a dream of making it as a comedian. The hard-working comic was performing an estimated 1000 comedy sets per year when he got the news about his cancer.
