A Mexican elementary school teacher was fired after a video (below) of her dancing in a bikini over spring break went viral on the Internet.

The 24-year-old teacher, identified only as "Miss Clarissa," said she was forced to resign from her job at the prestigious Cumbre del Noroeste Institute in the Mexican state of Sonora after the video came to the attention of school officials, the Daily Mail reported.

The video, which was posted to YouTube on April 8, shows the teacher participating in a sexy dance competition at Cabo San Lucas beach in Baja, California.

She is shown twerking to Daddy Yankee's "Rompe" while clad in a skimpy bikini. At one point during the video, the teacher is seen grinding on a judge and thrusting her cleavage in his face.

The woman said she won the contest's $260 grand prize for her moves.

As she was dancing, however, a bystander recorded the moment on his cell phone and posted the video to a Facebook news site, where it went viral and eventually came to the attention of parents and administrators at Cumbre del Noroeste.

When the teacher returned to school after spring break, she was called into a meeting with the school's headmistress and a lawyer, who ordered her to resign to "cool things down."

After losing her job, the teacher criticized the school's reaction to the media.

"It was a dance competition, something like this doesn't define me as a person, it was my free time and we're in the 21st century," she told Mexican publication Reforma, according to the Daily Mail.

"It's not something to be afraid of, I'm not naked, I'm not having sex or taking drugs or disrespecting anyone," she added.

Many Facebook users have posted in support of the teacher, while some parents at the school where she worked started a petition asking school administrators to give her her job back.

"We are angry at the way she was sacked, using a sexist pretext when she was doing what everyone does on holiday which is dance in a bikini," the parents wrote in a letter accompanying the petition. "The children she taught adored Miss Clarissa and were very sad when they found out she wouldn't be taking class anymore."

As of April 11, the petition has been signed by over 480 people. The goal of the petition is to garner 500 signatures.
