A Utah dad was so upset over his daughter's choice of wardrobe that he did something bizarre, with unexpected hilarity (video below).

Scott Mackintosh, 52, was becoming increasingly concerned about the revealing outfits his daughter was wearing.

Every Monday night, Scott and his family do an activity together for "family night." One night, the family had planned on going out to get dinner and then playing miniature golf together. Scott’s 19-year-old daughter, Myley, wore short shorts that the father deemed inappropriate for the occasion.

The dad asked Myley to change, but she refused. Instead of yelling or punishing the teen, he got even. While at dinner, Scott took his jeans and cut them into a skimpy pair of Daisy Dukes, according to Little Things. Even Scott’s wife was in disbelief at his fashion statement.

“I was embarrassed, but I was hoping it would be a really good lesson,” Scott’s wife told ABC News.

As planned, his teenage daughter was stunned and humiliated. But the father accomplished exactly what he set out to do: show his Myley that her short shorts weren’t as cute as she thought and to teach her about the virtues of modesty.

“I know it sounds weird to try and embarrass her, and I wanted her to know that she’s of great worth,” says Scott.

But the embarrassment didn't stop at dinner. Scott wore the Daisy Dukes and a T-shirt that read, “Best. Dad. Ever,” to Myley’s school in order to hammer home the message.

Clinical psychologist Michelle Golland explained to ABC News: “What this father did was an excellent way to get his message across. It was creative, it was funny, it engaged the family and it engaged the teenager.”

After four hours of posting the photos of Scott in Daisy Dukes to Tumblr, the images went viral and received over 130,000 comments.

“Mostly, I just learned the lesson of how much he loves me,” Myley told ABC News.

“Modest is hottest,” says Scott.
