Image Of Girl Eating Deer Heart Sparks Outrage (Photo)

A New Zealand hunter has come under fire for letting his 8-year-old daughter eat the still-beating heart of a deer she had just killed.

BuzzFeed reports that Johny, who's last name isn't given, posted photos to a hunting community's Facebook page of his daughter eating the heart of a stag she had successfully killed. The page has since been taken down.

“Check out my little pink ninja princess Chloe (8) with her first deer a young stag. Shot in a bush block on a friends farm last weekend,” Johny wrote.

Johny claimed Chloe “took a bite from its warm quivering heart,” and posted a photo to the New Zealand Woman Hunters Facebook page to prove it. The photo has since gone viral, with many people commenting on the graphic photos.

"Sounds like a psychopath to me," one user wrote, "no normal kid wants to do something like that to that degree. It was either forced or she truly does have some deep problems."

Another wrote, "Eating a raw creature's heart after you kill it, sounds a touch evil. Not to mention disgusting and disease ridden. Any sane person would realize that there is nothing okay about this."

Other users came to Johny's defense, saying that biting the heart of your first kill is an old hunting ritual.

"Wow all you judgmental people!!" one user wrote. "I'm sure all the McDonald's and processed food you feed your children are worse than one bite of a heart!!"

Johny claims he is surprised by the response to his photos. “Chloe has been coming hunting with me since she was eight months old on a front pack. This was her first deer. She has shot a goat, and been target shooting," he said.

Johny added, “I’d quote the saying, ‘Lions do not care of the opinions of sheep.’ She wanted to do it when she saw a picture of her uncle biting the heart of his first deer. We’re not too serious about it; it’s something some hunters do with the first kill. I wouldn’t say [it is] ritualistic, but she is a hunter now."
