Conspiracy Theory Emerges After Photos Of Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao Reveal Scorecard Error

An error on the scorecard from the “fight of the century” between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao on May 2 has some people convinced the Pac Man actually won the fight.

Photos of the official Nevada State Athletic Commission scorecard have surfaced online and people couldn't help but notice that something was off.

Judges Glenn Feldman, Burt Clements and Dave Moretti had scored the fight 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112, in a unanimous decision in favor of Mayweather.

But photos from the fight reveal there might have been an error in the scorecards. Pacquiao was marked as fighting from the blue corner and Mayweather was marked as fighting from the red corner, but it was in fact the other way around.

Because judges ruled in favor of the red corner, some people believe Pacquiao actually won the fight.

The theory does not come without flaws.

For starters, Floyd Mayweather’s name is clearly written on the scorecard’s right corner as the winner “by unanimous decision.”

The fact that both names are on top of the scorecards also cast some serious doubts on the Internet’s latest conspiracy theory. called it “a minuscule mistake on the scorecards by confusing which corner each fighter started out in.”

In his post-fight interview, Pacquiao gave his thoughts on the decision.

“I thought I won the fight. He didn’t do anything,” Daily Mirror quoted Pacquiao as saying. “He was moving around on the outside, so it’s not easy to throw a lot of punches. I could handle his power. I have fought bigger than him and not had a problem.”

Pacquiao also said he had an injury to his right shoulder. He was refused a pain-killing injection by the Nevada Athletic Commission because it was made aware of the injury only two hours before the fight.

According to The Huffington Post, Pacquiao could be facing a possible fine or suspension for lying on a form he filled out before the fight. In the commission questionnaire, he checked “no” on a question asking him if he had a shoulder injury.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache told that Pacquiao will undergo surgery to repair a “significant tear” in his rotator cuff.
