Colin Gilpatric, a 7-year-old "Star Wars" fan, desperately wanted to become a Jedi knight, but he also wanted to one day get married. Concerned that he’d never be able to do both, he took it upon himself to write to Lucasfilm and present his request. The company responded, and what it said is nothing short of amazing.

“Dear George Lucas, I don’t like that a Jedi cannot get married,” Gilpatric wrote to the famous director. “I want to get married without becoming a Sith. Please change the rule. P.S. I want to come to Skywalker Ranch please. Love, Colin.”

In its response, Lucasfilm informed the young fan he could, indeed, get married, and imparted some wisdom on him in the process.

A police officer saw a young black couple drive by and pulled them over. What he did next left them stunned:

“Thank you so much for writing to us with your question. It sounds like the Force is strong with you, and you are showing great wisdom by asking your question. To be a Jedi is to truly know the value of friendship, of compassion, and of loyalty, and these are values important in a marriage,” the response read. “The Sith think inward, only of themselves. When you find someone that you can connect to in a selfless way, then you are on the path of the light, and the dark side will not take hold of you. With this goodness in your heart, you can be married.”

What could possibly be cooler than that? A package stuffed with "Star Wars" swag comes pretty close, and Gilpatric received just that.

“We enclosed a few gifts that we hope you enjoy. Thank you again for writing to us. May the Force Be With You! Sincerely, Your Friends at Lucasfilm.”
