Ian Halperin, who has written a new book about the Kardashian clan, says an unidentified friend of Caitlyn Jenner told him the Olympic star may de-transition and become a man again.
"One source confirmed to me Caitlyn has made whispers of 'sex change regret,' hinting she might go back to being Bruce Jenner," Halperin told The Wrap.
Halperin quoted the long-time friend as saying:
"It hasn’t been easy for Caitlyn, it’s been very hard. She’s thrilled she has raised awareness about how transgender people have long been discriminated against but I think there’s a chance she’ll de-transition in the next couple years. I don’t think it would surprise anybody in her inner circle. It has been much harder than she anticipated. My heart goes out to her and I know her true friends will be there to support her on whatever path she chooses."
"She’s still into women and wants to meet the right one," Halperin also recalled the friend stating.
Jenner’s reps told Gossip Cop that Halperin’s assertion is the "dumbest statement of the day."
Gossip Cop also reports that The Wrap may not have reached out to Jenner’s reps, although The Wrap said it had, but didn't get a comment.
Gossip Cop added: "Of course, despite [Halperin’s] theories about Jenner, being transgender is not about sexual orientation, but rather about sexual identity. Jenner identifies with how she wakes up, not with whom she goes to bed."
Jenner did recall panicking for about 15 seconds after having facial-feminization surgery in a Vanity Fair article: "What did I just do? What did I just do to myself?"
However, Jenner spoke to a counselor from the Los Angeles Gender Center, who told her that second-guessing was normal.
"If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, 'You just blew your entire life,'" Jenner told Vanity Fair. "'You never dealt with yourself,’ and I don’t want that to happen."
Halperin also asserts in his book that Jenner’s ex-wife, Kris Jenner, pushed the former athlete into religious conversion therapy, and urged him to go to church to save their marriage.
