The video (shown below) of a 4-month-old boy struggling to breath during a coughing fit went viral after his mother uploaded it online.

Australian mother Rebecca Harreman posted the video on her Facebook page on Nov. 13 in an effort to encourage parents to get their children vaccinated for the whooping cough, which is what her son is suffering from.

“I’m been on duty for over three weeks having to wake every single time my baby boy coughs for fear he will stop breathing,” Harreman wrote in a caption for the video. “Every. Single. Time. I cannot and will not pass that duty to anyone else, because I just can’t sleep.”

Harreman added that those sitting on the fence about vaccinations should receive them for themselves and their children. She hopes her video is convincing enough.

“This is a GOOD coughing fit in a four-month-old with Pertrussis, or Whooping Cough,” Harreman continued in her Facebook caption. “23 days after his cough started, which is when it’s supposed to be getting past the bad stage.”

In the video, the young boy can be seen coughing so hard that tears roll down his eyes.

Harreman noted that nothing can compare to watching her son turn blue from a coughing fit after she passed him the contagious infection.

The mother went on to blame the anti-vaccination movement in Australia for the rise in whooping cough cases.

According to Metro South Health, an Australian health organization, a vaccination is the only effective way to minimize risk to the whooping cough, IB Times reports. Since cases have been relatively low in the past few years, the recent rise is concerning for the health group.
