Amy Schumer read an open letter at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Oct. 18 that was addressed to those in her Tampa, Florida, audience who walked out on her Oct. 16 show. The walkout followed jokes Schumer made about Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
During her Tampa show, Schumer invited a Trump supporter on stage, noted the Tampa Bay Times, and asked him: "Do you get worried at all with how impulsive [Trump] is that he gets so fired up from Saturday Night Live doing a skit on him, and the stuff he's talking about leaving NAFTA, and everything. Do you worry he’ll be impulsive and get us in a lot of f------ trouble we can’t get out of?"
The Trump voter conceded that he wasn't really voting for Trump, but rather voting against Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Schumer went on to call Trump an "orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster." She also asked sexual victims to stand and said she supports Hillary Clinton.

Schumer told the audience that if they interrupted the show with boos, they would be thrown out, which brought boos.
An estimated 200 audience members walked out.
Schumer stated in her open letter to Trump supporters who walked out: "Dearest Tampa, I’m sorry you didn’t want me, a comedian who talks about what she believes in, to mention the biggest thing going on in our country right now. How could I think it was OK to spend five minutes having a peaceful conversation with someone with different views," notes PEOPLE.
The audience laughed as Schumer added:

After the show, I want you to know that I will go straight to a rehab facility that will teach me how to make all people happy. Both the rich, entitled, white people who are gonna vote for him and the very poor people -- who’ve been tricked into it!
And Tampa, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said that he was an orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster. Shouldn’t have said that. I will never again say that he is an orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster!
Schumer told PEOPLE in a statement on Oct. 17: "I loved the crowd and my show in Tampa last night! I want to thank the 8,400 people who stayed. We had a great time! We have always depended on comedians to make us laugh and tell the truth. I am proud to continue that tradition."
