An Amazon driver was caught on surveillance video stealing a wallet, and the company did nothing to help in response (video below).

In the clip, the Amazon driver can be seen walking into what appears to be an office to deliver something. Later, the driver goes into a back room and appears to take something. As he walks out, he can be seen putting an item in his pocket.

The clip was posted to Reddit, with many users offering suggestions as to how the situation should be handled. According to the original poster, Amazon was contacted about the incident, and representatives informed the victim that they couldn’t help because they have “over 500 drivers.”

Some Reddit users questioned whether or not the theft actually took place, as the driver could not be seen clearly taking a wallet in the video.

“Dumb question maybe, but at which point in the video do we clearly see him take the wallet?” one user commented. “I assume that the claim he stole something is accurate, but the police won't make that same assumption.”

“You need to file a police report. Let the police do the calling to Amazon. I'm sure it will be a different story [then]. The video is not that conclusive though, can't really tell what he was doing,” another added.

The incident allegedly took place in Seattle, Washington, and many Reddit responders said that any help from the city’s police would be unlikely due to their history of not responding to low-priority crimes.

“I'm going to be 100% honest with you - there's little chance the SPD is going to do anything. SPD is notoriously unconcerned with property crimes (including thefts). I think the best thing you can do is basically what you're doing now - leverage social media so that something might get done in response to bad press,” one commentator wrote.

UPDATE: Amazon Corporate Communications provided a statement to Opposing Views, acknowledging the incident and confirming that an investigation was underway.

"We have high standards for our delivery partners and how they serve customers. We are thoroughly investigating this incident and will work closely with law enforcement and the customer to ensure it is fully resolved," read the statement issued by Amazon Corporate Communications representative Aaron Toso.
