Sex.com on its Way to Being Donated to PETA?

By Karin Bennett

Things that nonbelievers thought were never going to happen but did: "Octomom" saying "Yes" to our spay-and-neuter billboard, the Large Hadron Collider smashing proton beams into one another, and (drumroll, please) author, social entrepreneur, and longtime vegetarian Michael Mann agreeing to donate his half of the hotly sought-after $50 million domain Sex.com to PETA (pending IRS approval of this tax-deductible donation, of course).

Mann's offer to donate his share of Sex.com has us poised to tell the world that a vegan diet supports a lifetime of good health and great sex. If all goes as planned, visitors to the new site will see our sizzling ads such as "Veggie Love" and get information that will help turn on carnivores to the power of "veggie Viagra."

Mike's generosity makes everyone a winner: He'll score a huge tax write-off, meat-loving men who tend to limp through their later years (thanks to their artery-clogging diets) will learn how to make their sex lives sizzle by going vegan, and countless animals will be saved from the horrors of factory farms and slaughterhouses.

A perfect fit

PETA can sell snuff films to perverts of the thousands of innocent pets they brutally slaughter every year.

"slaughter"? yet alone "brutally"? who are you?

go back to burger king , mate, and pop another whopper down

Slaughter is pretty accurate

For the past two years, PETA has reportedly killed over 95% of the adoptable pets it takes in. In the meantime, they've spent millions on racy ad campaigns. It seems to me they don't quite have their priorities in order.

"reportedly" hey?... ok... read further...

Not sure if you work for the PR firm "CCF" which is paid by the food and beverage industry...

What about PETA's reporting... Would you believe PETA?

"In the ideal world of PeTA, as described by co-founder and president Ingrid Newkirk, there is "total animal liberation." There is no meat , no milk, no fishing , no hunting and no pets . Not even seeing-eye dogs . The irony of it all - PeTA kills animals .

That's right. PeTA kills animals. The organization that is for the Ethical Treatment of Animals kills animals by the thousands. In Norfolk, Virginia, from 1998 through the end of 2003, PeTA killed over 10,000 dogs, cats and other pets. That is more than five defenseless animals every day. Not counting the dogs and cats PeTA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 85% of the animals it took in during 2003 alone. These animals were supposed to be placed with caring and loving homes. This is their promise. After all, that is the reason that someone takes an animal to a "PeTA affiliated" animal shelter. And this angel-of-death pattern shows no sign of changing.

In 2006, PeTA killed 2,981 dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and other animals. This is 97% of the animals left in their care, according to PeTA's own records they supplied to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (2006). For comparison, the Virginia Society for the Protection of Animals (which operates in Norfolk, Virginia, as does PETA ) euthanized less than 2.5% of the 1,404 animals placed with them in 2006. While PETA collects tens of millions in donations by claiming to advocate for the welfare of animals, the group has actually killed 17,400 pets since 1998.

PETA’s "Animal Record" report for 2008, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 95 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2008, PeTA accepted 2,216 pets. Of the 2,216 animals, PeTA found adoptive homes for just seven pets. This brings the total animals killed by PeTA from July 1998 to December 2008 up to over 21,000.

PeTA has a $32 million annual budget , but instead of spending the money on placement, they find it is much cheaper to kill the animals and place them in freezers until they can be cremated and then thrown away in the nearest dumpster."

Read about PETA's founder... Ingrid Newkird...

"...[her] mother volunteered for Mother Teresa and various charities. Ingrid's early volunteer experiences—packing pills and rolling bandages for people who were suffering from leprosy, stuffing toys for orphans, and feeding stray animals —informed her view that anyone in need, including animals, is worthy of concern.

Until she was 21, Ingrid had given no thought to animal rights or even vegetarianism . In 1970, however, when she and her husband were living in Maryland and she was studying to become a stockbroker, a neighbor abandoned some kittens and Ingrid decided to take them to an animal shelter. This was a life changing-experience for Ingrid and led to her first job working in behalf of animals—cleaning kennels and investigating cruelty cases. Peter Singer's book Animal Liberation and Ingrid's experiences in that job and later on—including finding a fox and a squirrel caught in steel traps, finding a pig left to starve on a farm, and inspecting laboratories and circus acts for the government —made her realize that there needed to be an organization like PETA .

Ingrid has also served as a deputy sheriff, a Maryland state law enforcement officer with the highest success rate in convicting animal abusers, the director of cruelty investigations for the second-oldest humane society in the U.S., and the chief of animal disease control for the Commission on Public Health in Washington, D.C.

Under Ingrid's leadership, legislation was passed to create the first-ever spay-and-neuter clinic in Washington, D.C. She coordinated the first arrest in U.S. history of a laboratory animal experimenter on cruelty charges and helped achieve the first anti-cruelty law in Taiwan. She spearheaded the closure of a Department of Defense underground "wound laboratory," and she has initiated many other campaigns against animal abuse , including ending General Motors ' car-crash tests on animals.

Since it was founded, PETA has exposed horrific animal abuse in laboratories, leading to many firsts, including canceled funding, closed facilities, seizure of animals, and charges filed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. PETA has also closed the largest horse-slaughter operation in North America, convinced dozens of major designers and hundreds of companies to stop using fur , ended all car-crash tests on animals..."

Do we believe a guy who hides behind the wanna-be superhero name, "solarSanitizer", or someone who actually really cares, who applies herself completely and who possibly makes some very difficult heartbreaking decisions in order to achieve the best but not utopian outcome at times within her means to do so?

SolarSanitizer's picture

You don't have to believe me

And I caution anyone from believing some guy on the internet .

But I do suggest people believe themselves. The data is available at the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

PeTA kills thousands of animals , and no touching story will change the facts.

You don't care what the truth is... you just hate animals...

if you are interested... this is the page that outlines WHY PETA RELUCTANTLY AND SADLY PRACTICES EUTHENASIA...

http://www.opposingviews.com/i/peta-defends-euthanization-of-sick-injured-animals

TO SUGGEST THAT THE COMPASSIONATE SOULS WHO VOLUNTEER AND WORK FOR PETA DO IT FOR ANY REASON OTHER THAN COMPASSION IS... FRANKLY... EVIL...

..you are obviously working for one of the companies that makes a lot of money experimenting on animals ... or shredding them into bits at slaughterhouses... and you hate it...

...you hate it... that there are nice people out there who make you feel bad.

And you do feel bad.

You're on the wrong side.

Just give up being selfish and stand up for animals. Look in their eyes, and recognise that they yearn for freedom too. And they feel pain and suffering too. And the right thing for an enlightened human to do... is if we can't make the world perfect... just don't add to its misery.

So we let the animals be free, and those which can't live freely, we do our best to defend them from suffering. The best we can.

Pitch in, brother. (and lose that ridiculous superhero name... turns out it is tainted by evil anyway)

SolarSanitizer's picture

I do stand up for animals.

This is why I oppose you murderers at PETA :

I do not think that killing thousands of animals is setting them free.

I do not think killing animals is treating them with compassion.

I do think that caring for my animals is kind, compassionate, and right. This is why when I have a pet, I care for it as a family member, as opposed to snuffing out its flame.

YOU look in their eyes. Death is not freedom , PETA. You disgust me with your lies. I am a full-time student , I have no other job .

You work for PETA, though. "So we let the animals be free"

STOP killing people's pets . Please stop.

P.S. Peta, Solar Sanitizer, is word play on the saying: "Sunlight is the best disinfectant." It is not a superhero name.

People Eating Tasty Animals

Umm.... PETA executing pets because they can't be bothered to try to adopt them out and using animals for food are two totally different things.

sean joshua's picture

"Umm"... GrandVisier...

"GrandVisier"!

I don't usually do this, but when I read your name, I wondered: "what does this guy look like when he's typing"

You are a fellow, surely... I just can't quite see a woman appointing themselves "Visier" yet alone a Grand one.

Am I to imagine a booming voice from high above: I am the GrandVisier! (Crashing thunder and lightning)

I have to share with you, I'm seeing lanky old John Cleese in his tights and clankety armour in a Python skit right now.

Yet, you could well have been wearing your finest shimmering crimson satin cape, and most dashing electric blue tights beneath the yellow sequined GrandVisier briefs.

How exactly did writing "Umm" come to you?

"Umm" was a good start. It was honest. It was revealing.

On the one hand you are a powerful Grandvisier (what is a grandvisier? though I get the impression one is very powerful indeed) Yet "Umm" shows your sensitive equivocal and reflective side.

The lame waffle that follows it is definitely sweetened by the "umm" bit, and makes you endearingly pathetic. So a sympathetic hug goes out to you too as I pray that one day you and I can be friends and help animals and other people, together... good GrandVisier (crash thunder! pow!)

Hang in there little buddy!

GrandVisier's picture

In reference to my name

I am a man, mid 30's, and have been a HUGE Pink Floyd fan most of my life. On the Ummagumma album, there was a song titled "The Grand Vizier's Garden Party", a huge musical piece written by the late Richard Wright. On the original engineer's notes, it was misspelled "Grand Visier" with an S, hence the name.

As to what a Grand Vizier is, try this link:
