| by Oh The Scandal

Sacha Baron Cohen has signed on to play Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in an upcoming film about the late singer.

The biopic, scripted by Peter Morgan (The Queen, The Last King of Scotland, and The Other Boleyn Girl), will focus on the years leading up to Queen’s appearance at the Live Aid concert in 1985.

“Freddie Mercury was an awe-inspiring performer, so with Sacha in the starring role coupled with Peter’s screenplay and the support of Queen, we have the perfect combination to tell the real story behind their success, the project’s financier Graham King said in a statement.

No word yet on whether Cohen will do his own singing.

Expect to hear some of Queen’s classic tracks, including: We Are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, Another One Bites the Dust and You’re My Best Friend, according to Deadline New York.
