Let's tell it like it is.
In 2000 the Taliban wiped out opium production in Afghanistan. In the Summer of 2001, the CIA armed and organized the country's opium lords into what eventually became known as the Northern Alliance. The plans to invade Afghanistan were sitting on Bush's desk, awaiting his signature, on 9/10/01. The US led coup that put Afghanistan's opium lords in power took place in time to get the poppy crops in for the 2002 growing season, returning Afghanistan to the top spot in global heroin production, with approximately a 75% of the world's illegal opium supply. Under the watchful eye of 40,000 US troops, and thousands of CIA flights in and out of Afghanistan a year, Afghanistan now accounts for over 92% of the global heroin market. US troops remain under orders to do nothing to disturb the poppy fields.
"Fraud" is far too mild a word. The appropriate word is "treason".
