Drug Law

Ron Paul on Legalization of Heroin

| by Jerome McCollom

Ron Paul, libertarian Republican candidate, asked the audience during an early presidential debate: "How many people here would use heroin if it were legal?"

Nobody raised their hands, no surprise. Good question, because there is a myth that if drugs were legalized there would be a huge rush to use them.

Frankly, it isn't that hard to get illegal drugs. Drug users seem to have no problems in getting them. I know I won't use them.

I don't think I know anyone who would become a heroin user. Ron Paul is frankly the only Republican candidate I will consider, if nominated, over Obama. This question by Paul, is one of the reasons I might do so.
