You ever heard of the Mau Mau revolt? Me neither. It was a revolt in British East Africa, which later became Kenya. The place where President Obama's dad is from. Not by the way, for any birthers reading this, where the president was born.
Well, Mike Huckabee (one of numerous Christian fundamentalist theocrats running for the Republican presidential nomination to make us a Christian fundamentalist version of Iran) thought he could get away on a conservative talk show with saying Obama grew up in Kenya, but the next day he tried to correct himself by stating he was mistaken and had meant that Obama grew up in Indonesia. While Obama kind of grew up in Indonesia, at least for a few years, that is not what Huckabee said. This is what Huckabee had said:
"[If] you think about it, his perspective as growing up in Kenya with a Kenyan father and grandfather, their view of the Mau Mau Revolution in Kenya is very different than ours because he probably grew up hearing that the British were a bunch of imperialists who persecuted his grandfather."
First of all, even for political junkies like me, Americans don't have a view of the Mau Mau revolution. I hardly have a view of the Tamil struggle in Sri Lanka. Second, Huckabee made numerous references to Kenya and the Mau Mau revolution, which did not happen in Indonesia. If he meant Indonesia, as he later said, than why bring up a revolution that did not happen there?
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
Frankly, Huckabee is a liar and a bad one at that. When another former governor of Arkansas lied (kind of), he got impeached but this man might be president? The fact is, to win the GOP nomination for presidency, one has not only to disagree strongly with the policies of President Obama, one must make Obama out as basically the living embodiment of the devil. A devil born in Kenya, or maybe Mars. Shame on you, Mike Huckabee.
Huckabee also said:
"Most of us grew up going to Boy Scout meetings and, you know, our communities were filled with Rotary Clubs, not madrassas."
Actually, there are Boy Scout groups in Indonesia, although I am sure this would shock Huckabee who wants his viewers to think how foreign President Obama must really be. Second, I doubt most American boys went to Boy Scouts, but if they are gay or atheist, than the Boy Scouts don't want them. Lastly, a madrass is just a school, not even necessary a religious school. Huckabee is either ignorant of that fact, or he wants his viewers to be ignorant. There might have been no WMDs in Iraq, but Huckabee is sure a WMA, or Weapon of Mass Ignorance.
