Hate for Mitt: "Romney & Mormons are No More a Christian Than a Muslim is"

ST PETERSBURG, FL -- Bill Keller, the world's leading Internet Evangelist and the founder of LivePrayer.com, with over 2.4 million subscribers worldwide reading the daily devotional he has written every morning for 12 years on the issues of the day from a Biblical worldview, says it is necessary today with the vast majority of the last two generations having never been to church, and with most of those who do being Biblically illiterate, to educate people on what Mitt Romney and Mormons really believe about African-Americans, God, Jesus, the Bible, and Biblical Christians.

Keller said, "It is not religious bigotry to tell people the truth about what Romney and Mormons really believe, since he and those in his 'church' lie when addressing these issues. These are legitimate issues since people have a right to know what guides and motivates the person who is asking them to vote him into most powerful job in the world."

Keller stated, "Romney and members of his 'church' believe and teach that African-Americans are cursed and it has only been in the last few decades that they allowed African-Americans to join their 'church.' Just like polygamy, they have had to set aside their true beliefs on race to become mainstream, but that doesn't mean they no longer believe what their 'church' teaches on these issues."

Keller continues, "Romney and Mormons lie when they claim to be a Christian, since the teachings of Mormonism are inconsistent with Biblical Christianity. When Romney talks about God, it is NOT the God of the Bible, since the Mormon god was once a man who died and ascended to god status. The Jesus Romney speaks of is NOT the Jesus of the Bible, since the Mormon jesus was created in a sexual union between their man/god and Mary meaning he is not a deity, that he visited the United States during his brief life, and is the brother of Lucifer."

Keller went on, "Romney and Mormons will quote from the Bible to further their deception of being a Christian, but don't believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God as Christians. Instead, they view the Bible as a flawed and incomplete book, using the writings of Mormon founder Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, the Doctrines and Covenants, as their theological authority. Romney and Mormons also view Biblical Christians as inferior to those in their 'church.' Romney also believes in Smith's 'White Horse Prophecy' that states the nation will be in chaos, a Mormon will become President, and under the guise of saving the union set aside the US Constitution and enact a Mormon theocracy. These fantastical beliefs are why Romney and Mormons are no more a Christian than a Muslim is!"

Keller concluded, "Mitt Romney is a 'temple Mormon,' meaning he has gone through the secretive temple rituals, including taking a blood oath to his 'church' above everything else, and wears the temple garments (magical underwear) with satanic markings that he believes protects him. Listen, if people want to vote for a man who believes he will die and become the god of his own planet, have an endless supply of women to have sex with and create spirit babies, that is fine. All I have ever asked Romney or anyone in his cult like Glenn Beck to do is be honest about what they really believe and to quit lying to people!"

It is standard Evangelical/Fundamentalist dogma to label Mormons as "non-Christian" via circumscribing the definition of "Christian". Just a bunch of rhetoric rooted in the Nicene Creed, not the Bible. But don't ever repeat that to someone like Bill Keller; they will tear your tongue out with their claws.

5.Does the Mormon Church believe that Jesus is a deity?

LDS doctrine teaches that Jesus is the Son of God, the Creator of all things - under the direction of God, and plays a central role in our personal redemption and resurrection. Jesus is a God and a member of the Godhead - who are described as Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost (comforter listed in the Bible)

These three make up the Godhead and work as one unified group to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of all humans who will prove themselves willing to follow their council which comes from God and is delivered by Jesus and the Holy Ghost.

6. Does the Mormon Church believe that Jesus visited what is now the United States?

Yes. The Book of Mormon is a writing that describes a group of people who left Jerusalem about 600AD, during the prophet Jeremias time (bible). These people arrived in the western hemisphere and haviong the records of the tribe of Judah (old testament) carried on in the ways of the ancient prophets.

They also made a record of thier history and their dealings with God. It is recorded in the Book of Mormon that the resurrected Jesus Christ visited the inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere and taught them as well. They recorded this event and these teachings and passed them on throughout all generations knowing that this white god would come back someday, hense the bowing of the Indians when james cook and Colubus arrived..

Check the story out for yourself in 3rd Nephi in the Book of Mormon. Good story for anyone believing in Christ

Let me answer your questions. However, some of the answers may require more understanding than I can give you at this time. Best to talk to an Lds missionary.

1. Does the Mormon Church teach that African-Americans are cursed?

Just as the bible documents, the seed of Cain were cursed with a black skin. These individuals born into this line were denied God's priesthood and all who sought this priesthood would know not to mix theor seed with them. After the flood, Noah's son Ham, who married outside of the priesthood lineage provided children that continued on in this curse of not having the priesthood.

Because this was God's punishment the LDS community believe that this carried on until a revelation was recieved in 1978 to allow all children on the earth the opportunity to get the priesthood. So this 'curse' by God has been lifted for all future generations.

2. Does the Mormon Church believe that African-Americans are cursed?

No. Even before the 1978 revelation, Lds people would treat all mankind as well as they could manage. However, just as Abraham sent his servant away to get Isaac a bride of his heritage, LDS people discouraged marrying into a line that could disrupt the priesthood blessings.

The only people who would be cursed as to things of an eternal nature are those who would seek to fight against God. All miankind are equal in their choice to learn about and obey the commandments

3. Does the Mormon Church believe that the father of Jesus was a man before becoming God?

LDS doctrine teaches that humans are on this earth as part of a test to prove themselves willing to obey all that God has asked. The purpose of this test is to become like our Father in Heaven. If he is our Father, should it not stand to reason that we can become like Him as we mature through eternity?

LDS doctrine teaches that our Father in Heaven once went through an earth life just like ours, was obviously faithful to eternal principles and was resurrected back into His Father's presence and progressed to what He is today. This is an eternal principal that occurs for both male and female in the concept of an eternal marriage.

So, as recorded in the Bible, Our Heavenly Father is the literal Father of Jesus, who received His ability to lay down his life from his mother Mary, and his ability to raise it back up again through His Father who is our Father as well.

4. Does the Mormon Church believe that Jesus is the brother of Lucifer?

Yes. As recorded in the bible, there was a war in heaven and 1/3 of our Heavenly Father's children were cast out and were never to receive a body to be tested with. Lucifer led the charge of these individuals against the plan our Heavenly Father would have us follow to become like Him.

You see, we are all spirit children of this same Father, so Jesus is also our Spirit brother who stood up to enact this plan for our Father, as we would all need a redeemer to claim us back into our Father's presence due to our being born heer on the earth and making some mistakes while experiencing our test.

This is a fascinating reality that all who read should inquire form LDS missionaries to check out the scriptures as they tell the story. I cannot include all here as I am just glossing over the whole event. Please do not judge this summary as it is too incomplete for a proper discussion but you get the idea.

dm440,

"LDS doctrine teaches that our Father in Heaven once went through an earth life just like ours, was obviously faithful to eternal principles and was resurrected back into His Father's presence"

So you're saying that the father of Jesus was a God and then a man and then a God again?

What revelation supersedes holy scripture?

"In the history of the world, nothing has been the catalyst of more grief, hatred, war, and crime than religion. Religion allows a person to hate, kill, torture, or steal, while allowing him to recuse himself of all blame. Religion causes people to break the laws of ethics and morality in the name of a god." "Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise." - James Madison

"The Christian god is a three-headed monster, cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three-headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites." ~ Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

"It is from the bible that man has learned cruelty, rapine, and murder, for the belief in a cruel god makes a cruel man, and the bible is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind" ~ Thomas Paine (1737-1809)

"All national institutions of churches whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit. … My own mind is my own church." ~ Thomas Paine 'The Age of Reason' (1794)

“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.” ~ Tripoli of Barbary. Art. 11. – Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the following treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. “The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries.” ~ James Madison

“Of all the systems of religion that were ever invented, nothing is more … repugnant to reason … than this thing called Christianity.” ~ Thomas Paine

A near-contemporary, the Rev. Dr. Bird Wilson, “perused every line that (President George) Washington ever gave to the public and (did) not find one expression in which he pledges himself as a believer in Christianity. … He was a Deist and nothing more.” Wilson judged all of the first six presidents to be “infidels.”

Thomas Paine noted in “The rights of Man,” “Persecution is not an original feature in any religion; but it is always the strongly marked feature of all law-religions, or religions established by law.”

I see lots of blanket denials but not so much on specifics.

Yes! or No! to the following points, (some) brought out in the article.

There seem to be some very involved, knowledgeable Mormons here in this topic.

No long winded explanations or excuses,,,, just yes or no.

1. Does the Mormon Church teach that African-Americans are cursed?

2. Does the Mormon Church believe that African-Americans are cursed?

3. Does the Mormon Church believe that the father of Jesus was a man before becoming God?

4. Does the Mormon Church believe that Jesus is the brother of Lucifer?

5.Does the Mormon Church believe that Jesus is a deity?

6. Does the Mormon Church believe that Jesus visited what is now the United States?

7. Does the Mormon Church believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God?

8. Does Mitt Romney wear special, church-approved undergarments with special markings?

9. As a practicing, faithful Mormon, does Mitt Romney believe he will die and become the god of his own planet?

10. Did Mitt Romney take an oath to his 'church' above his country?

11. Do faithful Mormons believe that it is ok to lie to a non-Mormon to protect the faith?

fsilber's picture

The key is that no one is suggesting that Mitt Romney should be your preacher. The issue is whether he has the American values to properly run the country. Regardless whether Mormon theology is or is not more heretical than Islam, Mormons promote American values.

I feel the same way as Blogcomments55... I feel like moving on to better things but I can't help writing and expressing my feelings a bit. This article is FULL of falsehoods meant to tear down and destroy the mormon religion. I couldn't care less whether or not Mitt Romney wins the election. That's not what is important here. If he loses then so be it. But it is hard for me to stand aside and see lies written about my faith and not say anything about it. If you want to know what mormons REALLY believe, go to lds.org or mormon.org. You will find the truth there. Don't believe what you read from a person who has probably never picked up the Book of Mormon or stepped inside a mormon church building.

Blogcomments55's picture

This guys comments are so outrageously false I should just move on to the next article, but I just have to comment. He kind of reminds me of a neo-nazi speaking at a skin-head convention about Jews, or a KKK member in the 1960s talking about blacks. Please don't misinterpret, I don't want to compare the sufferings of Jews or Blacks to Mormons, as I'm sure the latter have had it lucky compared to the former, but I note the author speaks with the same hateful and deceitful delusions that are equal only to the likes of neo-nazis and klan members you see in movies. I would like to think most people can see through his frothing, however I'm sure there are many who don't really care to take the time to learn for themselves and take what he says at face value. I am a member of the church this guy is denouncing, and I can only offer my witness that what he says is a crock of crap, and in the process he also unfortunately gives good "evangelists" a bad name.

There are many more untruths in Keller's remarks than there are truths, which are all out of context. I have been a Mormon my entire life, with my father and husband serving for decades in leadership positions. We absolutely believe in the God and the Jesus of the Bible, with all our hearts! We are not a cult! Our church leaders don't even begin to tell us who we should vote for! We esteem Joseph Smith as a great man, a prophet, but we do not worship him! Even the non-members of his time who truly knew him thought of him as a fair, humble, loving person. But of course there were the ignorant people, full of hate, who assumed the worst. Please find out for yourself, don't assume a hateful person knows about someone else's religion! Please sign me, Grateful for my Mormon Heritage!
