A young Muslim waitress in Nice, France, was reportedly assaulted by two Muslim men for serving alcohol to customers during Ramadan.

"I was all alone in the bar when two passersby barged in," the waitress told French newspaper The Local. "They pointed their fingers at the bottles of alcohol that they saw behind the counter, then one of them said to me in Arabic, 'You should be ashamed to be serving beer during Ramadan.'"

One man allegedly added, "If I was God, I would have you hanged."

"You're not God and you cannot judge me," the waitress reportedly replied.

According to the Evening Standard, one of the men then shouted that she was a "whore" and hit her in the face, knocking her to the ground. The young woman was left with bruises on her face after the incident.

Police were notified of the attack soon after. The incident was caught on CCTV cameras, and the footage has since been turned over to authorities.

The victim said she was shocked by what happened.

"Serving alcohol doesn't mean I'm not following my duties," she said. "I'm doing it because I am a barmaid. In Tunisia, I do the same job and I never had the same problem. I can't believe that in France, the country of liberty, that I could be attacked like this."
