Televangelist John Hagee Says Blood Moon Tetrad Sign of Second Coming

| by Allison Geller

Televangelist John Hagee claims that the four consecutive lunar eclipses that are set to begin Tuesday are an omen from God of a “world-shaking event.”

The four “blood moons,” a tetrad of four complete, successive lunar eclipses, will appear in the skies at six-month intervals starting April 15, with the last one occurring in October 2015.

According to NASA experts, the occurrence of four complete lunar eclipses in a row is a rare phenomenon. There were no tetrads from 1600 to 1900, but the 21st century marks an increasing number.

And all will be visible from the United States.

"The most unique thing about the 2014-2015 tetrad is that all of them are visible for all or parts of the USA," NASA eclipse expert Fred Espenak told CNN.

Hagee, a bestselling Christian author, wrote a book about the tetrad last October.

He pointed to Acts 2:19-20 of the Bible, which reads: “And I will show wonders in Heaven above and signs in the Earth beneath, the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.”

“Just as in biblical times, God is controlling the sun, the moon, and the stars to send our generation a signal that something big is about to happen. The question is: Are we watching and listening to His message?” Hagee writes in his book, titled "Four Blood Moons: Something Is About to Change."

The 73-year-old preacher is known for his controversial statements about natural phenomena: Hagee claimed that Hurricane Katrina was God’s vengeance on New Orleans for planning a gay rally.

Hagee will go live to talk about the blood moons during a live event on Global Evangelism Television on April 15, just in time for the first sighting.
