During a speech on Tuesday at Caltech in Pasadena, California, former Cambridge Professor Stephen Hawking said that the universe did not require a deity to create or maintain it.
Hawking's speech "The Origin of the Universe" was not supposed to be recorded, but an unidentified person did make an audio recording (below).
“The problem of what happens at the beginning of time is a bit like the question of what happened at the edge of the world when people thought the world was flat,” said Hawking.

“What was God doing before the divine creation? Was he preparing hell for people who asked such questions?” asked Hawking, reports Kpopstarz.com.
Hawking cited the M-Theory as the only possible theory for the origin of the universe. The M-Theory suggests that matter, space, time and every possible history exists simultaneously across dimensional planes that were created out of nothing at the moment of the Big Bang, noted HuffingtonPost.com.
