Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas claimed a "jihad" was being waged against "people of faith" who oppose gay marriage at a panel presented by an Iowa homeschooling organization on April 10.

According to RightWingWatch.org, the forum (video below) included Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and fellow possible 2016 GOP presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum.

Cruz, who has already announced he is running for president, stated, "We look at the Jihad that is being waged right now in Indiana and Arkansas right now, going after people of faith who respect the biblical teaching that marriage is the union of one man and one woman."

Cruz added that he was going to "bring together" a consensus of people who believe in the First Amendment and religious values.

CaffeinatedThoughts.com notes that the Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators' panel was moderated by radio show host Steve Deace, who recently slammed Republican Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana for amending Indiana's controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Deace said Pence was a "gutless hack" and slammed Republicans during his March 31 radio broadcast.

According to MediaMatters.org, Deace said: "Because when you look between their legs, there's no there, there. Eunuchs all. Well, almost all. GOP leadership is rapidly removing any reasons for a conservative to vote Republican, let alone remain one."
