Gun Owners of America's President Larry Pratt appeared on "The Steve Deace Show" on Wednesday and made some extraordinary claims on the radio program, noted (audio below).

First, Pratt claimed that his "small group" was responsible for defeating the gun background check bill in the Senate, but failed to mention that the NRA has over one million members and millions of lobbying dollars, not to mention other conservative groups and lobbyists.

Pratt also made the claim that it was the Gun Owners of America's prayers that defeated the bill, but offered no actual proof.  He also suggested that people who support gun background checks do not pray because it is "so far outside their box," but did not provide evidence of that either.

"The one thing that the other side will never understand about how a small group like ours was able to do what we did is because we pray," said Pratt. "That’s so far outside their box that you could tell them that and they would probably think you were kidding or so what, you know what I mean."
