GOP Celebrates Kwanzaa, Grassroots Republicans Attack

| by Michael Allen

The Republican National Committee (RNC) recently tried to reach out to people who celebrate Kwanzaa, but it backfired because of Republicans who see the holiday as un-American and a threat to Christmas.

Ironically, Kwanzaa was created in America in 1966, while Christmas was created by Pope Gregory in Rome, Italy in the 4th century.

On Dec. 26, the RNC wrote on its Facebook page:

From December 26th through January 1st, many families will take time to celebrate African culture and history. Kwanzaa is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to honor the importance of family and community, and it reminds us of the great diversity in America. Happy Kwanzaa!

However, reports that some of the reactions on Facebook slammed the posting:

This is America, not Africa, either you are American or not, if not, leave the USA!

You can’t celebrate Christmas even using the “C” word is wrong and offencive [sic] to other cultures but you can promote Kwanzaa? America is truly going down the tubes when when not everyone is treated equally. Where is the “DIVERSITY” when you omit Christmas.

How is celebrating one race of people good for diversity in America? WTF is with this post?

If Kwanzaa is an African-American celebration of family and community, not many of them must observe it. Instead they have broken families and trash their communities.

What about our White culture, you all celebrate everything but ours that are paying for all of thiers [sic], ???

The blacks celebrate Kwanzaa by playing the ‘knock out game’ and burning down cities.

However, some Republicans were shocked by the comments:

I'm embarrassed to say I'm Republican. Dang, when did this party become such a hate filled party made up of fake christians and whites only? Really sad.
