Christian Broadcasting Network aired a segment about a woman training for the U.S. Coast Guard on Feb. 11, which prompted "700 Club" host Pat Robertson to say that "masochistic" women in combat are living out “Fifty Shades of Grey” (video below).

“The feminists have gotten to a point where women are going to be drafted and put into combat units,” Robertson stated, notes RawStory.com. “Why would any woman in her right mind want that?”

"You know, I don't know, but there are women warriors,” co-host Wendy Griffith reminded Robertson.

“The Amazons!” Robertson replied.

"I understand the spirit of a warrior," Griffith added. "It's a little crazy, I wouldn't want to be in that situation."

Robertson recalled how difficult his military training was, and added, "Then when you get into a combat situation, you’re living in trenches and you're eating K-rations and there’s mud and all the rest. Why would anybody want that?”

“I would go if I could take my makeup, if I could take my hairspray and my makeup,” Griffith joked.

She went on to say how some women feel a call to serve their country.

“Maybe there’s a masochistic thing they want,” Robertson said. “That’s bondage, that’s ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ squared.”

“OK, that's my take on it," Robertson added. "You’re looking at somebody that’s been there, done that. It ain’t something for a woman, I don't think.”

Before he denigrated women for serving in the armed forces, Robertson blamed President Barack Obama on Feb. 9 for supposedly reducing U.S. Navy strength and ceding parts of the Middle East to ISIS, notes RightWingWatch.org.

“But that's what's happening with Obama," Robertson added. "This man is, he is dangerous, he is really dangerous. But whether or not he can destroy this country in the next few months that he’s got ahead of him, his people will saddle us with so many regulations. We’re looking at a serious, serious economic collapse with no driver, no country strong enough to take on the burdens of the world unless the United States mans up and does it.”
