Pastor Blames Earthquakes On Gay People (Video)

| by Michael Allen

Pastor Brian Tamaki preached that homosexuality and other sins were responsible for natural disasters such as earthquakes during his sermon at the Destiny Church in Auckland, New Zealand, Nov. 13 (video below).

Tamaki made his dire warnings to his congregation in a video that has gone viral on the church's Facebook page:

Leviticus says that if the amount of sin and iniquity was in people, it had an effect on the land. The land actually speaks to God. Out of the soil Abel’s blood spoke to God from a murder. The earth can speak. Leviticus says that the earth convulses under the weight of certain human sin.

And it says it spews itself up after a while, that’s natural disasters. Cause nature was never created to carry the bondage of our iniquity...

This young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.

So nature from environmental impact, from pollution, from disregard, but mainly from our sin. Can you believe this? It is sin in man that makes him abuse Creation. So Creation speaks to the Creator, the Father, and so you get earthquakes. You hearing me? Take note because you'll forget it out the door.

Tamaki also blamed the sins of Christchurch, a city in New Zealand, for earthquakes in 2010 and 2011 that killed 185 people:

Even the churches there were allowed all sorts of activity that you wouldn't even dare to imagine. If I'm bulldozing your ignorance, good. There are churches there that weren’t churches. They were actively involved in homosexual practice, homosexual priests.

Tamaki's sermon happened one day before a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck New Zealand on Nov. 14.

Tamaki wrote on the church's Facebook page with the video of his sermon: "As predicted during yesterday morning's service, the recent natural disasters are a sign that 'nature was never created to carry the bondage of our iniquity.'"

John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand, called Tamaki's statements "ridiculous," notes the NZ Herald, and added:

Look, you always get people coming out with these stupid statements. The facts of life are New Zealand is a seismically prone country, with a number of very well identified fault lines. We've been a bit unlucky I think, clearly those plates are moving around a bit. It's nothing to do with people's sexuality. I mean, it's just madness.

In response to the outrage over Tamaki's sermon, a spokeswoman for Destiny Church said:

In view of the terrifying events that have impacted the cities and families of New Zealand over the last few days, our heartfelt condolences go out to the victims affected by the earthquakes and floods over this last week.

In a blog posting on Nov. 16, Tamaki offered his prayers for the earthquake victims, and double-downed on his sermon:

In Leviticus 18:24-28 is a sobering warning and insight to the connection of the land and sexual sins. Leviticus 18 is God outlining the types of sexual sins that when they are practiced to a point of blatant disregard to a certain depth of perversion that the land will actually react and spew up the inhabitants! (ie Mass Evacuations).

No other sin in the whole of the bible has any connection to earthquakes, floods and volcanic eruptions, but Sexual Perversions alone. (Leviticus 18:5-29).

To most men this would seem ridiculous and judgmental by God and US! But God is not judging us, nature is! The environment is suffering under mankind’s iniquities. For some time we have seen disruptive weather patterns and global warming, just to mention a few of nature’s fury!
