Former Republican congresswoman Michele Bachmann recently praised President Donald Trump for being a "man of prayer" who "loves to receive prayer" (video below).

Bachmann made her comments during an interview on Jan Markell's "Understanding The Times" Christian radio program, notes Right Wing Watch.

Bachmann began her praise for Trump by asserting that he worked 70 days in a row:

He is unashamed in standing up for increasing an awareness of God in the United States. He recognizes how important that is and that is a basis of Western civilization. I am so happily surprised by what I've seen in the Trump administration.

I'm so glad for this opportunity today, because I'm not here as a Trump cheerleader. That's not what I'm about. But what I'm here to say as a believer in Jesus Christ, I could not be more happy with what I am seeing coming out of the Trump White House. This is beyond my wildest expectations.

Markell asserted that during former President Barack Obama's administration, "folks were tripping over Muslim prayer rugs," but did not offer any names or evidence. Bachmann agreed and praised Trump some more:

The president himself is man of prayer, and man who loves to receive prayer. He is happy to receive prayer. But more important than anything, he is a man who, I do believe, understands who the God of the Bible is and he wants to lift up the God of the Bible here in the United States… The Lord is working mightily in our government ,and I believe it is because God is being reverenced, God is being lifted up. Prayer is not foreign in the White House, it's not foreign in the Executive Office Building; looking to God, looking through Bible studies, this is not foreign now anymore.

The Pew Research Forum noted in January that nearly every president in U.S. history has been a Christian, and every president in modern history has been of the Christian faith, including Obama, Trump's predecessor.

Bachmann went on to say that Trump "is somebody who gets the fact that the God of the Bible is, He is, He exists, He is real ... This president is very bold about the need for God in our country."

Bachmann said that she and others met with the president and were able to present "the faith perspective voice" to Trump, which she said was "best for America."

"I’m shocked at how happy I’ve been with what I’ve seen so far," Bachmann added. "And again, I really believe that it's because of prayer. I totally believe it’s based on prayer. He’s president because of prayer, the advances we’ve seen are based on prayer and I think, going forward, that is what we need."

Over on Facebook, evangelist Franklin Graham praised Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who testified before the Senate on July 24 about his meeting with a Kremlin-connected lawyer in 2016 who promised supposed dirt on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton:

Jared Kushner testified today before the Senate about a meeting he attended with a Russian lawyer, and is scheduled to do so again with the House Intelligence Committee tomorrow. I have met this young man on several occasions and he seems very sharp. Both he and his wife Ivanka Trump are exceptionally astute.

I certainly do not know what was said in these meetings that are being discussed, but this whole debate about Russia influencing our elections is a giant smokescreen. The progressive socialists had plans for our country and Donald J. Trump disrupted those plans. They were sure he would lose the presidential election.

They are still infuriated and want to keep President Trump and his administration distracted so they will not be able to pass the tax reform, healthcare reform, and immigration reform we need so badly. They also want to keep the American people distracted.

They would rather see the country spiral downward than for problems to be fixed. Join me in praying for Jared. Also pray for the president and for Vice President Mike Pence. Our nation is in trouble, and we need God's healing hand in so many ways.
