Mosque Letter Warms Hearts (Photo)

After President-elect Donald Trump's victory, many fearful Muslim Americans have reported they've received threats and other forms of discrimination.

So when Reddit user Zaidinator shared a picture of a note somebody left on an Indiana mosque, most people likely expected a letter of hate, Mashable reports.

How wrong they were.

"I am sure things must be scary for you all right now," the note reads. "I hope the coming weeks and months are peaceful, but no matter what, please know that many of us appreciate what you bring to this community and wish you nothing but love. Thank you."

This young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.

However, Zaidinator explained the sentiment didn't shock him all that much.

"The Muslim communities in Indiana at least, can only speak for them because that's where I'm from, are super welcoming to everyone," the Reddit user wrote. "We always invite non Muslim males and females to events we hold. Also if anyone ever came to speak with any member of the community, we don't ignore them. Yea maybe in some cases what you said might happen, but you can't make judgment based on information you don't know."

The note touched many.

This young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true:

"If you honestly want to reach out to your neighbors to let them know that you don't hate them, I think that's a great thing," wrote one user in response. "In an election that pretty much everyone within Muslim communities in the states views as a rejection of them as fellow Americans, it is certainly welcome."

Yet not everybody liked the note.

"The author of the note probably meant well, but I also thought [it] read condescending," one user wrote. "There are better ways to give support that don't come off as virtue signaling."

Others agreed.

"Concerned neighbor does it for their own satisfaction," wrote another Reddit user. "Maybe to be truly virtuous. Maybe to stroke their own purity."

However, some said they couldn't see what the problem was with the note.

"Muslim here," wrote one person. "Not condescending at all."

"People can care about other people without it being about self-satisfaction," chimed in another. "It's called empathy. Try it some time."
